Junior Beef Cattle Show

Judging - Friday, August 15, 6:00 p.m.

All cattle shall be accompanied by a certificate of Veterinary Inspection.

1. Competition is limited to either 4-H members who were enrolled in the fourth grade or FFA members who were enrolled in agricultural education on January 1 of current year or have not reached the end of the calendar year of their high school graduation.

2. All animals entered in the Junior Beef Show must be registered in the name of the junior exhibitor, or transferred to the boy or girl in whose name the entry is made by July 1, 2008. Registration papers or transfer certificates properly executed must be presented to the chairperson of the show when cattle arrive at the fairgrounds.

3. All animals exhibited must meet health requirements of the Fair.

4. Cattle must be entered using entry form in the Fair Catalog.

5. Cattle will be received Friday, August 15th, and must be in place by 5:00 p.m.




6. Release time will be after the show unless animals are to be shown in the Open Show.

7. Two animals per exhibitor per lot may be entered.

8. Premiums will be paid for place 1-5 according to the following schedule:
        1st - $20.00
        2nd - $15.00
        3rd - $10.00
        4th - $8.00
        5th - $5.00

9. Heifers in the Other Breeds class must be registered in the herd registry for their breed, must be born March 31st, 2007 or earlier, and not eligible for other registered shows. Lots will be determined by hip height measurements.

10. A two (2) day exhibitor pass will be required for $5.00 per pass.

11. If there is only one entry in a lot, 2nd place money will be awarded for a Blue Ribbon.

12. Breed shows will be provided for any breed with 10
or more head. Those breeds with less than 10 head will be show in the Other Breeds class.

Class 02 - Hereford - Polled Hereford
Class 03 - Simmental
Class 04 - Other Breeds
Class 05 - Little Cow Buddies

    a. Class 05 is open to children two years to eight years,
not yet a member of 4-H, showing calves six months
and younger.
    b. Calves need not be registered, but must be a pure-bred
beef animal.
    c. Calves need not be owned by children exhibiting them;
however, each exhibitor should make arrangements
for a calf.
    d. All entries will receive a trophy.

06) Late Junior Yearlings - 3/1/07 - 4/30/07
07) Early Junior Yearlings - 1/1/07 - 2/28/07
08) Senior Yearlings - 9/1/06 - 12/31/06
09) Cow/Calf - Calf born 9/1/07 or later.   Eligible for Grand Champion
10) Grand Champion Trophy
11) Reserve Grand Champion Trophy
12) Junior Showmanship - those exhibitors in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades as of 1/1/08 (Halters)
13) Junior High Showmanship - those exhibitors in the 7th and 8th grades as of 1/1/08 (Halters)
14) Senior Showmanship - those exhibitors in the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades as of 1/1/08 (Halters)
